Hey guys, I am creating this blog as a way to showcase some of my photography work, old and new. I often post on my personal photography Instagram page, but felt this would be a new way to show off my work, and interact with the people viewing it. I'd love feedback and comments, and will take on board anything that worked well and anything that didn't.

I thought the first thing I should upload is recent street photography work I shot whilst in New York over the summer. I love doing street photography, and often tell people this is my main genre. I have always loved people watching, and capturing people in a natural and un-staged moment.

Looking at things differently

So this week we were set a task to look at everyday objects and things around us differently. Looking at them more in depth in a way we might not usually do. Looking more at their aesthetics and photographic potential. Firstly, we were given the task of stepping outside our front door, taking a few steps and then wherever you ended up, photographing what was around you using different techniques. These were the two images chosen from my outdoor shoot. Both using a longer shutter speed and exposure time, in order for me to move the around in a circle like in the first image, or up and down like in the second. This gave the images a new look and feel, and makes you question what the object or thing even was. The next task was the photograph things we find in our bathroom. The bathroom is a room we go in so often, but take no notice of the photographic potential the things within it has. We once again needed to shoot this creatively, and try to produce something that looked a lit

The Egg of Expression

This week we were given the task of shooting an egg. We had to shoot at least 20 images and consider, what the egg means to us and how it reflects us. Taking an everyday quite simplistic food such as an egg, and turning it into interesting subject matter for a photo shoot was difficult. It was hard to take something that looked original, and that showed the object in a different and unique way. These were my best images. I tried to make each image reflect a different element of my personality, the first was to show that sometimes I feel alone. The second was to show how I like everything in it's place, and looking how it is supposed to. Lastly, the last image was just an experiment using some of the techniques we had used over the last few weeks, but I thought this also linked to how crazy my life feels at the minute, and how I feel overwhelmed with deadlines at university.
